I'm guilty of making simple things more complicated than they need to be. It's painting! Not rocket science! So there's no need to make it more complicated than it is. Don't overthink it.
As part of my growth, I've been treating my business more like a business, LOL. That only took me 2 whole years to figure out *face palm*. It's ok. Better late than never. Little aHa moments are happening along the way too. So, I've come to the conclusion that I need a business plan because...I'M A BUSINESS, haha. It's all those little things that are starting to click into place because I'm looking at it differently now.
There's so many great resources out there for small business owners to take advantage of as well. I'm finding groups to be connected to, financial planning help, and I'm making more organization for myself so I know how to stay on track day by day. As I keep moving forward, I'm seeing more and more insight into how to make this operate like a business, and this is finally giving me the confidence to put myself out there more boldly.
I once had a professor tell me that artists have 3 things, but they never have all 3 at once.
1. Space to work
2. Time to work
3. Money to support work
1. I now have a space to work that is "free".
2. It's small, but it's just right for me at this moment. I have been setting aside a few funds to make room for more money to be allocated to my supplies and marketing, so money is coming together.
Now, to only tackle the time. I have a busy schedule, just like everyone else on the planet, and time management has always been tough for me. BUT! I'm going to carve out hours each week to set aside time for Art by Perdue, to make the impossible trifecta come true.
That's where all the magic will happen.
